Become a Member

Being a member of REACH not only helps to give us a strong voice, membership will keep you connected and informed about the latest happenings at REACH and in the community. You will receive by mail a copy of the newsletter, REACH…for the News, three times a year, as well as a special invitation to REACH’s Annual General Meeting each year. As a REACH member, you will be able to vote at the AGM as well as have the opportunity to stand for nomination to the Board of Directors.

Why is membership so important?

REACH gains credibility and strength with every member who joins us, and this helps us gain ongoing funding and support from the government and other funding sources. A healthy membership not only makes us proud, it also shows that lots of people count on our services and support. Membership is a vote of confidence that sends the message that we have the support of our community as we work hard to fulfill our mission and stay active in our community.

How do I sign up?

You may become a member of REACH if you are a REACH client or if you live or work in the Grandview-Woodlands neighbourhood. Membership fees are based on a sliding scale of $1–$5. Click here to download our membership form. You can also sign up at REACH’s reception desk or administration office.

Volunteer

Volunteers are an important part of the REACH team. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available and are always looking for dedicated folks to donate their time and energy to REACH’s many programs.

Board of Directors

REACH is a pro-choice, gay positive organization committed to the principals of anti-discrimination and strives to make the centre an inclusive environment. REACH places high value and has a strong commitment to democratic decision making at all levels within the organization. Potential Board members must be willing to participate and adhere to these values.

Special event volunteers needed!

The Fund Development Committee is currently planning REACH’s next special event. Please come and join our fun and creative team of people! We meet monthly at REACH to discuss fundraising opportunities. If you would like to learn more about this dynamic group, please call our Fund Developer at (604) 254-5456, local 245.

Dental program

Volunteer in the Dental Program to help with tasks including cleaning of instruments, organizing the work area, restocking the supply room, etc.

Multicultural Family Centre

We are looking for:

• Clerical volunteers and volunteers who are gifted at writing grant proposals
• Volunteer computer instructors and assistants to help folks who use the computers to prepare resumes and reports, write letters, access health and settlement information, and contact families via the Internet
• Volunteer tutors to tutor young African children with their schoolwork.
