How are we funded?

At REACH Community Health Centre, about 60 percent of our core funding comes from government sources and grants. The balance of funds must be generated through community support, individual donations, fundraising events, and foundations. We couldn’t do this without the assistance of our volunteer Fund Development Committee and part-time staff person.

How can I contribute or donate to REACH?

Become a volunteer. There are lots of ways that you can help – from stuffing envelopes to helping young African students learn English to sitting on the Board of Directors. Everything helps! Check our volunteer section on the website. REACH’s Fund Development Committee is always working on events or outreach activities to strengthen our presence in the community.

Donate by mail or by phone – or arrange a monthly giving plan. Pretty soon, you will even by able to make a donation online! Please know that REACH values each donation. United Way designation. Does your workplace have a United Way campaign each year? Simply write REACH Community Health Centre at the bottom of your United Way pledge form to designate your support. REACH does not receive funds on an on-going basis from the United Way. However, because we are a registered charity, we can receive funds that are earmarked for us by donors like yourself. The trick is to ensure that you add REACH’s name to the end of the donation form.

Donate auction items. Each year REACH presents two or three special events in the community. These events often involve silent auctions, and we need volunteers to gather donations of artwork, jewelry, services, sports items, gift certificates from restaurants, entertainment, hotels, travel, and other contributions. If you are lucky enough to have a talent or you have something that you would like to contribute, we will gladly add it to our auction. A tax receipt can be provided by completing our simple donor form. Giving to an auction is also an opportunity, if you wish, to have your name visible in the community and in the printed materials.

Be a sponsor. We are always grateful to business owners who step up to the plate and lend their support to REACH at one of our events or in one of our programs. Partners like Uprising Breads Bakery, The Vancouver Courier, VanCity, and Vancouver District Dental Society are examples of groups who have been REACH’s champions. We hope you will join them!

Hold a special event for REACH. Are you looking to hold a fundraising event or to choose a charity to donate to at a special function? There are a number of reasons that your hard work will be thoroughly appreciated and will benefit REACH. Call (604) 254-5456, Local 270 for information.

Planned giving options. Our charitable status provides a number of opportunities to individuals wishing to benefit from tax savings when considering planned giving options. The gift is established in the present, with its actually delivery to the charity at a later date.

These gifts include:

• Gifts of life insurance, wills and bequests
• Shares and securities
• Charitable gift annuities, and gifts of residual interest and remainder trusts
